ARSP and the project partners offer the following benefits to the volunteers:

  • Accomodation (a simple single or double room in an apartment)
  • Food and pocket money (300 EUR/month in Germany)
  • Cost of transportation (bus, tram, subway)
  • Insurance (medical, accident, and liability insurance)
  • Cost of visa
  • Four seminars during the year of service
  • Cost for language courses and course material up to 250 EUR for introductory language courses

The Financial Aspect

ARSP is a non-profit organization and is not a corporation with unlimited monetary resources. It costs approximately 600 EUR per month to support an ARSP volunteer during the service.
The work of ARSP is funded in part by the federal German Protestant Church, the protestant dioceses in Germany, local churches, the German government, and the European Union. More than two-thirds of the remaining costs are financed through donations, church collections, and personal contributors. We ask all of our volunteers to support us in the following ways:

“I see my time as a volunteer as an opportunity to contribute to the understanding between Muslims and Jews and between Germans and US-Americans. As an individual this is of course difficult. But perhaps I can simply be a role-model.”

Aness Yacoubi from Wolfsburg, ASF-volunteer in the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington D.C.
