Olomouc (8/6-8/3)

Olomouc's Jewish community is very small and urgently needs help with the upkeep of their cemeteries. Olomouc has, as the capital of Moravia, a beautiful historical downtown area. This university town offers much to see and do and there are many inviting excursion in the vicinity.

Sumperk (8/13-8/20)

Sumperk is a city in Nordmähren, located 150 km north of Brno, and 250 km east of Prague. The Jewish cemetery in Sumperk is one of the many cemeteries that is maintained by the Jewish community in Brno. They do this because there are no more relatives, who can take over this work. “I see my time as a volunteer as an opportunity to contribute to the understanding between Muslims and Jews and between Germans and US-Americans. As an individual this is of course difficult. But perhaps I can simply be a role-model.”

Aness Yacoubi from Wolfsburg, ASF-volunteer in the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington D.C.
