The Sommerlager (summer camp) program of Action Reconciliation Service for Peace offers interesting and enriching possibilities for personal contacts across national, cultural and religious borders.
Every year about 250 young and old people, men and women, participate in the international and intergenerational work camps.
For two to three weeks the volunteers live, learn and work in international groups in 17 countries. The volunteers keep up Jewish cemeteries and memorial centres, they work in social institutions, they run intercultural projects, and what is more, they exchange ideas concerning current and historical problems. All work camps are led by volunteers, frequently former long-term volunteers who want to pass on the experiences they made during their peace services.
