When: 18th June 2022, 11-17hrs
Where: Walloon Church and Altstadtgemeinde Magdeburg, Neustädter Str. 8, 39104 Magdeburg
Exactly 60 years ago, the first summer camps took place in Magdeburg: committed people helped to rebuild destroyed churches and thus laid the roots of a very special program that combines dealing with history of National Socialism with work assignments and international encounters. Today, the international summer camps are an integral part of the Aktion Sühnezeichen Friedensdienste programme.
On June 18th we want to honour these six decades of ASF summer camps by looking at the past, present and future. We are happy to be able to gather for this in the Walloon Church, one of the churches where rubble was cleared 60 years ago during a summer camp. The second church of St. Peter is in the immediate vicinity.
We will start with an anniversary service and will have many opportunities throughout the day to talk to each other about the summer camps, learn about the importance of these summer camps for ASF and appreciate this special work. We cordially invite you to lunch, coffee and cake.
The conclusion of this anniversary event is a concert by the Magdeburg motet.
We would be very happy to welcome you in Magdeburg.
Unfortunately, travel and accommodation costs cannot be covered.
The hygiene rules will be based on the then valid information for the restriction of the pandemic. We will consult these before the event and will pass the relevant information on to you.
We look forward to meeting you.
