UK Friends of ARSP is a legally registered charity organization in Great Britain. Most of its funding consists of grants from the European Union, in particular the European Voluntary Service (EVS) under the Erasmus+ Programme. UK Friends of ARSP are a registered EVS co-ordinating and sending organization. Furthermore, regular donations by churches, project partners and individuals contribute enormously to ARSP's efforts for remembrance and reconciliation.
The central founding German organisation Aktion Sühnezeichen Friedensdienste e.V. is a registered charity in Germany. For its funding, it is dependent on people who wish to make an active contribution to a society that takes strength from actively confronting the past.
The cost of ASF's work amounts to about 3.5 million euros. In addition to contributions from members and friends of the organisation, about two-thirds of ASF's funding consists of donations, money from collections, voluntary contributions by private individuals and fines. Contributions by the church, EU subsidies (e.g. Youth in Action) and by the IJFD (Internationaler Jugendfreiwiligendienst) programme of the German Federal Ministry of Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth cover about one third of our costs.
The UK branch of ASF also receives a generous contribution from the German YMCA in London. which currently sponsors four of the ARSP projects in the UK.
